Disaster Relief 2020
Hope Lutheran is Responding to Disasters
Fires in California have burned more than 3.2 million acres of land -- an area almost the size of Connecticut. Latest reports show 24 people have died and over 4,200 structures destroyed. This year has also been an especially busy with hurricanes. Hurricane Sally is now a threat in the Gulf Coast region, following hurricane Laura. This year hurricanes (derechos) have travelled far north into Iowa. Many people have been displaced. Many have lost their homes and places where they work. How are we to respond?
Hope is receiving special offerings for disaster relief September 20th thru October 4th. All monies received will be passed on to the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) Disaster Response ministry. Individuals, families and congregations serving these people will be given food and water, and needful supplies as they adapt to life-altering circumstances.
Hope congregation will match up to $1,000.00 of offerings received. A separate plate for disaster relief will be placed in each worship area. By using the memo portion of your check or offering envelope, you can designate a portion of your offering for Disaster Relief. Offerings can also be mailed in.
